Grey's portrayal as anxious Jeannie opposite Matthew Broderick in Ferris Bueller's Day Off written by John Hughes made her a famous star. Grey's celebrated performance in Dirty Dancing as Frances Houseman also known as Baby Houseman opposite Patrick Swayze earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
